5 Benefits of Matcha

This past year, matcha really grew on me. I’ve tried it a few times but it was just not my thing. I think it’s because I did not have it made properly. It really helps that it is full of antioxidants and other health benefits.

I used to spend too much money buying matcha at coffee shop. I quickly stopped once I realized that they were ripping me off and not using the best matcha powder out there, and they were also overdosing on the added sugar which would in turn mask the true taste of the matcha. I’ll be sharing more on my matcha discoveries here, but in the meantime, here are 5 benefits of drinking matcha:

  1. It is high in antioxidants.

Matcha is rich in catechins, a type of antioxidant that helps protect the body from oxidative stress and reduces the damage caused by free radicals.

2. It boosts your metabolism.

Matcha contains a compound called EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate), which has been shown to boost metabolism and aid in weight management.

3. Provides sustained energy.

Matcha contains a moderate amount of caffeine, which provides a gentle and sustained energy boost without the jitters or crash often associated with other caffeinated beverages.

4. Supports mental focus.

The combination of caffeine and L-theanine in matcha promotes increased focus, concentration, and mental clarity.

5. Promotes relaxation and stress reduction.

L-theanine in matcha has a calming effect on the mind, helping to reduce stress and anxiety while promoting a sense of relaxation.

Remember, while matcha offers numerous health benefits, moderation is key, especially for individuals sensitive to caffeine. Enjoy it as part of a balanced diet and lifestyle.
